The library program is an integral part of our school, connecting learning activities in the classroom with oppurtunities for children to borrow, read and enjoy quality literature.
2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge.
This year all Stage 2 and Stage 3 students will be participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge as part of the library program.
If you are logging books online go to https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html and use the same user name and password students use to log on the school computers. Alternatively, either scan the PRC QR code that is displayed around the school or use the link placed on the student portal.
Some students have elected to use a paper log. Make sure you keep this in a safe place ready to show me on check in days and to hand in at the end of the challenge!

Junior Fiction Shelves
At the end of last year we were lucky enough to order new forward facing shelves for our Junior Fiction collection. These were installed ready to go at the start of this term and worth every dollar. I am so excited to share the before and after photos. Check them out below! Forward facing shelves not only look better, they provided the ability to see the cover of a book which is beneficial the younger readers in so many ways!
Displaying books with the cover out (forward facing):
•Provides children who can’t yet read an insight into the content of a book, especially helpful when you’re trying to entice kids to read new, unfamiliar books
•Makes it much easier for reluctant readers to choose books (wouldn’t you rather read a book when you see a hilarious picture of a cartoon chicken on the front, instead of simply the words “Interrupting Chicken” on a spine?)
•Allows library staff to switch up their book displays more frequently. Rotating the books on shelves and the books children see makes them “new again,” increasing children’s excitement over books.
